Ring canal formation in the Drosophila male germline occurs via a midbody-like intermediate

We use the Drosophila male germline to address questions of incomplete cytokinesis that results in the formation of ring canals, membrane-bound cytoskeletal structures that connect cells in a syncytium. We have employed a combination of imaging approaches and gained new insights into the origin of ring canals during spermatogenesis.
