Enhancing enhancer studies in non-traditional insect models: a new suite of reporter vectors for diverse insect species

We have created a new suite of reporter vectors which function with beetle enhancers when integrated into either flies or beetles. We reason that the ability of the core promoter to function in such diverse contexts makes it an ideal candidate for use in a variety of other insects. Our vectors include different color fluorescent reporters and markers, piggyBac and PhiC31 integration, and Gal4-UAS. Additionally, we have created a versatile landing site for establishing PhiC31 integration in additional species. Together these tools will greatly enhance the study of enhancers in non-traditional insect models.
