This study includes genotypic, phenotypic and environmental data for 869 unrelated Populus trichocarpa (black cottonwood) trees that have a natural distribution range in the western United States (northern California to Northern British Columbia). Whole genome re-sequencing data for 869 trees with 11.1 million SNPs were integrated with phenotype and environmental data using genotype-environment association (GEA) and redundancy analysis (RDA) methods to test for the evidence of local adaptation.
